Comments


This article will guide you through adding, removing, and managing comments and replies, including explanations of the various menu options. Please ensure you have “Creator” permissions for the space to access this feature.

Instructions

Adding your first comment

To access the Comments Panel, click the icon resembling a double note in the bottom ribbon.

The Comments Panel shows a list of all comments added to the space. Click the “+” icon next to the “Comments” label.

Now you can update the viewport, add a subject, and add a message to the comment.

Once you hit post, you will no longer be able to update the viewport of the comment. You will still be able to edit the subject and message later on.

The subject field has a maximum character limit of 200.

The message field has a maximum character limit of 2500.

You’ll find an up and down arrow in the upper-left side of the Comments Panel. Click this to toggle to full-screen mode. Alternatively, you can click and drag the panel's top edge to resize it. When your comment is ready, use the “Post” button to create it.

Set the viewport of your comment

If you clicked “Update viewport” before clicking “Post”, then you can use movement controls to position the camera and click “Set viewport”.

This will set the current camera position and rotation for when a user wants to go to this comment in the future.

After you click “Post”, you will see your comment appear in the list of comments. In addition, a comment icon will be created in the space to represent it.

Hide or show in-space comment icons

You can toggle the visibility of these in-space comment icons by clicking the eye icon.

Using the comment options menu

Comments that you create will have five different options: Go to, Edit, Reply, Resolve, and Delete. Comments that other users create will have a limited set of those options. Click the triple-dot icon to the right of a comment to open this menu.

Editing comments

To edit a comment, open the Comment Options Menu for one of your comments and click “Edit”. You cannot edit other users’ comments.

You may edit the subject and message. When you are finished, click “Done”.

Adding a reply

To add a reply, open the Comment Options Menu for any comment and click “Reply”. You can add a simple text message and click the “Reply” button at the bottom of the page.

You can go back to the comments list by clicking the left arrow icon beside the top-level comment. Additionally, while viewing all comments in a space, simply click on a comment to view the replies.

Reply options menu

To open the Reply Options Menu, click the triple dots to the left of a reply. This menu is only available for replies that you have posted.

Please note: this menu currently does not include an option to create a new reply.”

Adding a comment to an object

To add a comment to an object, press and hold the object to select it. Once selected, you'll see an outline around the object, an options icon (three dots), a 'View in AR' button, and a 'Done' button. Click the three-dot options icon.

Next, click the “Add Comment” option.

This will take you to the section for adding a new comment. You will see the object’s ID listed under “Attached to Asset” at the bottom of the panel.

Now that there are multiple comments in the space, you can scroll through the list of comments.

Replies from other users

You will also see replies from other users, showing the author and when they were posted. However, there is no Options Menu available for replies you do not own.

Go to a comment

To go to a comment, open the Comment Options Menu for any comment and click “Go to”. This will reposition your camera in the space to the precise viewpoint the comment's creator had when they posted it.

Resolve a comment

To resolve a comment, open the Comment Options Menu for any comment and click “Resolve”. This will add a check mark icon next to the author of the comment and to each of its replies.

Delete a comment

To delete a comment, open the Comment Options Menu for any comment and click “Delete”. That comment and its replies will no longer be available in the Comments Panel.
