OKO Web Client 2.35.0 - CSP 4.28.1 | Version 1.0.0 (133339) - CSP 4.27.0 - UE 5.2 | OKO iOS Client 5.57.0

This guide will assist you in adding a Text Component to an Entity in OKO Web, Unreal Editor Extension Plugin, and iOS.

Instructions for OKO Web

Begin by adding an empty Entity to the space from the Hierarchy menu, by clicking the three-dot menu to the right of the Search bar and selecting ‘New Entity’

Select the empty Entity and give it a name by double-clicking. (This is optional, but will help organize your Entities down the road.)

Click once on the Entity to view its properties in the Properties panel. Click the “+” sign on the right of the Entity and select the text component.

Once the Component has been added, its properties will appear, including:

  • Transforms – you can use transforms to move, rotate, or scale the text component in the space.

  • Visible in AR – here you can decide if the Image Component will be visible in AR.

  • Width & Height – adjust the width and height of the Text Component using those two fields.

  • Text – type the text you would like to see in the space.

  • Text & Background Color – you can choose the color of the text and background by using the color panel.

  • Show Background? – check the box on and off to show or hide the background color of the text.

  • Billboard Mode – here you can choose the Billboard Mode of your text component:

    • Off – Billboard Mode is off.

    • Billboard – the text faces the camera in the XYZ axis.

    • Yaw Locked Billboard – the Billboard is locked to the vertical Y axis.

Instructions for OKO iOS

You can only transform, view in AR, and delete text components from a space in the OKO iOS App. For more detailed edits, you’ll have to use OKO Web or the OKO Unreal Plugin.

To begin editing the Text Component in iOS, press and hold the Text Component to select it.

Once selected, the Component will highlight. By using a single finger, you can drag the Text Component and move it around the space.

By clicking the two dots on the right top corner of the screen, you can unlock the scaling tools to rotate and scale the Text Component in the space. From this menu, you also have the option to delete the Component from the space entirely.

Use two fingers to scale the Component, and use three to rotate it.

View the Text Component in AR by clicking the “View in AR” button in the lower-left corner of the screen.

That's it for the Text Component in the OKO App.

OKO Unreal Editor Extension Plugin

Text Components can also be added to a space using the OKO Unreal Plugin.

To add the Text Component using the OKO Plugin, all you have to do is search for the Component in the Details Panel.

When the Text Component is added, you will see a settings menu where you can edit your text preferences similar to the editing preferences in OKO Web.

  • Transforms – you can use transforms to move, rotate, or scale the Text Component in the space.

  • Text – type the text you would like to see in the space.

  • Text & Background Color – you can choose the color of the text and background by using the color panel.

  • Visible in AR – here you can decide if the Image Component will be visible in AR.

  • Width & Height – adjust the width and height of the text component using those two fields.

That’s it for Text Components!
