OKO 2023.04

Date: 25th April 2023

Client versions: Unity 1.0.4, Web RC 2.3.5, Unreal OKO Plugin Build number 90653

Here's What's New In This Release For Unreal OKO Plugin

  • Pagination of the Public and Private Spaces lists has been introduced to allow users to access all available spaces rather than just the last 20 as was previously the case.

  • Comments left in a space are now denoted by an icon to ensure users can locate them.

  • Support for comment selection in a viewport has been added.

  • Initial work focused on converting an Unreal Reflection Actor into an OKO Reflection Component, further work was done to ensure that HDRI data from a downloaded OKO Reflection Component could be parsed back into an Unreal Reflection Actor.

  • A new Fog component in UE. Demonstration here.

Comments

A view of a comment icon in space and the Comment Panel

To provide editors with a quick way to view all in-space comments, a Comments Panel was added to the existing OKO mode. This displays a high-level summary of each comment in the current space and allows the user to view the full comment message as well as post replies.

  • Comments and their replies can also be deleted and are correctly removed from the panel.

  • If there are no comments associated with a space then the Comments Panel displays instructions to the user on how to create them.

  • Comments now have a maximum character length of 2500 which is indicated to users by showing the remaining character count. This turns red when it falls below 100 characters. See video here

  • Creating a free-floating comment in Web and then viewing it in the details panel via the Unreal Editor Extension. See video here.

  • The comments styling has been refined and updates include showing the author's name in the top left of the comment summary, adding a summary view, and allowing comments subjects to be captured and displayed.

  • If a comment is selected in space, the Comments Panel will now open and show the reply view. See video here

  • Instructions on how to add a comment can be found here.

Collison

For editors to be able to author engaging spaces within OKO, the creation of a new OKO collision component was essential. The only shape that is supported currently is box collision, but stay tuned for an update on sphere and capsule collision. See video here

Major Bugs We’ve Fixed…

  • Fixed new comments appearing blank in the comments tab until the user refreshes.

  • Addressed the high-contrast colors issue in Reflection Component capture.

  • Resolved slate elements failing to reappear after switching editor modes.

  • Fixed crashes in UE Editor Extensions when adding assets with skeletal meshes to OKO spaces.

  • Corrected the visibility issues of video, image, button, light, and collision components in iOS Unreal.

Here's What's New In This Release For Unity iOS

  • You are now able to choose to hide components in AR Mode.

  • You can now control the camera with your physical device.

  • You can get information about your space at a glance with the new space details page.

  • Attention gamers! You can now use a dual joystick touch input system.

  • Guests are now automatically logged into OKO when linked to guest spaces.

  • We’ve added collision support for boxes, spheres, and capsules.

  • Now when you add a spotlight to your space, the assets nearby will cast shadows.

Major Bugs We’ve Fixed…

  • It’s now possible to import GLBs before opening the app.

  • We fixed an issue that prevented you from entering a space after cancelling a room scan session.

  • Objects now appear in "View in AR"/single-object view mode.

  • Previously, switching to AR Mode would occasionally teleport you back to the beginning of your space. This issue has now been resolved

Here's What's New In This Release For OKO Web

  • Editors are now able to navigate a space and leave comments for future reference.  This feature empowers creative editing between multiple users to leave real-time asynchronous feedback on a space. [Video Link]

  • Users are now able to chat with each other via text while in a space, Google Meets style. It can be accessed via the new Chat button on the right-side panel.

  • The launch of a Space Details modal provides users with a way of accessing space information. Upon selecting a space from the menu, users can now view essential details including the space's banner image, description, user access list, and administrative tools (contingent upon the local user's permissions).

  • Users are now able to identify a lat/long for their space and toggle a new ground image within their space that shows the exact location of their space allowing them to place assets along a pre-defined route. See the video here

  • SiteView offers another view over spaces. Accessed via the pin icon in the space menu, a 2D world map is displayed helping users understand space geolocation, what’s nearby, and distance from the user.

  • Quicklook is available. For users who prefer to use OKO Web on iOS, they can now preview how individual assets will appear in AR via native support for Apple’s AR Quick Look.

Major Bugs We’ve Fixed…

  • Previously, the VCam Mode pop-up would fail to trigger when entering spaces with the Virtual Camera toggle set to on. This issue has been resolved.

  • Assets with visibility toggled off were still visible if you left the space and then returned. This has been corrected.

  • Asset Pack primitive models now load correctly in the Web client upon first opening the tab.

  • Environment selection is now available on the account creation page.

  • Quick Look no longer displays other undesirable components from the selected component's entity.

  • After changing a space to be public/private in the space details modal and hitting save, reopening the modal no longer opens into the shared view.
