Creating and editing spaces
OKO iOS Version 1.8.0 Build 5.42.0.0 running CSP 4.18.0
This article will help you create and manage spaces in the OKO app. To get started, you’ll need to download the OKO app from the App Store.
Instructions
Create a new space
When you select the “Create New Space” option in the toolbar, the following page will be displayed.
From here you will be able to define the properties of your new space.
Enter a Space name – give your space a name. This is a required field.
Latitude Longitude – if you wish to make your space geolocated, you can either enter a latitude and longitude for your space or tick ‘Use My Current Location’.
If you want to enter a latitude and longitude for your space but are unsure how to do this, you can find them easily via Google Maps. Simply find the location you want, right-click it in the map and a pop-up will appear with the latitude and longitude of that location displayed at the top. These coordinates can then be entered into the fields provided.
Control camera by tilting your device – if you would like your physical device to control the orientation of the virtual camera in the space you can enable “Control camera by tilting your device.”
Set Space to Public – now decide whether your space will be “Public”. Spaces are private by default but if you want to make it available to all, select “Public”. Please note that making a space public will give access to it by anyone who launches OKO - please be mindful of sensitive content and use this setting sparingly.
Create Empty Space – this will create a new space with a default skybox and lighting set-up
Note that the only environment available for the OKO app is the void space.
You will also see the option to “Scan Your Space”. If you want to create a digital replica of a room you can use the Apple RoomScan integration to author a 3D representation of the physical environment to use in your space. Once the RoomScan has been completed there are optional steps available for anchoring the virtual environment to the physical one.
For more information on how to use RoomScan please refer to Using Scan Your Space in OKO
In-space
Once in the space, you will be shown a 3D view of a virtual environment.
At the bottom of the screen, you will find a toolbar with three options.
Space library – this is where you will find all of your assets.
Here now – see who is in the space at the moment.
Help – learn how to navigate a space.
At the top right of the screen are three more icons stacked vertically.
Space library – this is where you will find all of your assets.
Share – this is where you will be able to share your space.
Camera navigation – use your physical device to control the orientation of the virtual camera in space.
To exit the space, click the back arrow at the top left corner to return to the main menu.
